Who we are
Nashua History is a locally researched archive of the people, places and events that shaped Nashua, New Hampshire. Our website address is https://nashuahistory.com. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
The short version
- You can read every page on this site without giving us any personal information.
- We only collect personal information when you choose to send us a message through the contact form.
- We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and we do not sell or rent anyone’s information.
- Comments are turned off, and visitors cannot create accounts.
Information you send us
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, a subject and a message. We use these only to read and answer your message, and to follow up if you have shared a story, correction or document for an article.
Spam protection
Messages sent through the form are checked for spam by Akismet, a service run by Automattic. To do this, the form details and technical information such as your IP address and browser user agent are sent to Akismet. You can read the Automattic privacy policy for how that data is handled.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, the servers that deliver this site keep standard technical logs, which include IP addresses, the pages requested, the date and time, and browser details. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes this information to protect the site from attacks and to load pages quickly. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running, not to identify individual readers.
Cookies
This site does not set cookies for visitors. Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie if it needs to check that traffic is coming from a real browser. Site administrators who log in to WordPress receive the standard WordPress login cookies; readers never do.
Embedded content and links
Our articles link to other websites, such as city records, museums and venues, for sources and further reading. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information once you leave this site.
How long we keep information
Messages from the contact form arrive by email. We keep them only as long as we need them to reply and to keep a record of the conversation, and we delete them sooner if you ask. Server and security logs are kept for a limited period by our hosting and security providers.
Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. It is shared only with the service providers described above (our web host, Cloudflare and Akismet) so they can run and protect the site, or where the law requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Email [email protected] and we will handle your request. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Children
This site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site handles information changes, for example if we add a newsletter or analytics, we will update this page and the date at the top.
Contact
Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected] or through our contact page.
